Inaugurated on
January 14 1954, Shanghai Foodstuffs Import & Export Corporation
is one of the early-established special foreign trade firms
that deal in importation and exportation of foodstuffs after
the founding of New China. Up to 2002, the accumulated total
of exports by the Corporation amounted to 6.8 billion US Dollars
In the year of 2002, the Corporation was ranked 46th on export
scale in Shanghai.
The Corporation now has 8 branches and subsidiaries. The main
items it handles are meat and egg products, frozen poultry,
aquatic products, fruit and vegetables, processed foods (including
canned foods, alcoholic drinks, condiments, frozen foods, sweets
and biscuits, chocolates, etc.). The Corporation employs a well-trained
team of experienced professionals who know the domestic market
and are specialized in foreign trade. It has established good
trade relations with over 1,000 clients in more than 70 countries
and regions.

In face of the challenges arising in domestic and foreign
markets, also of the ever-growing keen competition,
the Corporation invested in the past many years large
amount of capital in more than 40 companies or enterprises.
The investment helped the Corporation get certain benefit
in introducing advanced foreign technology, equipment
and fine breed, upgrading the quality of export products
and raising their added value, increasing potentialities
of export and meeting the challenge arising after China's
entry in WTO.
For the past 50 years, the Corporation has won commercial
reputation on the world market for its products of fine
quality and complete varieties, as well as its prompt
and perfect service. Foodstuffs exported by the Corporation
are ranked as famous, special and fine commodities,
including canned foods, quick-frozen foods, quick-frozen
vegetables and soya sauce of "Maling" brand, chocolates
and candies of "SF" brand, various snacks of "Jumbo"
brand, maltose of "Great Wall" brand, pork sausages
of "Bright" brand, brined mushrooms of "Friendship"
brand, egg products of "Peace" brand, etc. Eighty three
brand names used by the corporation have been registered
in more than 40 countries and regions overseas.
While basing itself on the main lines, the Corporation
has expanded into non-food business. It has extended
its business into garments, chemicals, arts and crafts,
pharmaceuticals and light industrial products. Its business
of such non-food lines has been developing steadily
year by year. The Corporation mainly does business on
it's own account as well as agents for importation or
exportation as per clients' requirement. Besides, the
business of processing with buyer's or imported materials
has reached a certain amount as well.
In December 1998, Shanghai Foodstuffs Import and Export
Corporation was combined with Shanghai Maling Aquarius
(Group) Co., Ltd, thus expanding and developing further
by relying on the Group as a whole and the favourable
conditions created by integrating the trade with the
